DESPITE APPEARANCES was an art show in which I walked my younger self through our life, discovering that despite all the color and life on the outside we were sad and hollow.

As I walked my younger self through our life, we found the mask we used to wear. The one that made us cool, strong, and desirable. I hid behind a persona of a man ironically created by an 8th grader. It was colorful, but superficial. And in a superficial world... it worked. But this mask, this armor became a prison.
